MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Hope of Glory Missionary Foundation can be summarized as this:
To identify, train, and empower indigenes of the Old Calabar Province as Missionaries to Sri Lanka, Ecuador, Germany, Venezuela, Belgium, and other mission fields the Lord will send us.
MOVING CALABAR FROM A MISSIONS FIELD TO A MISSIONS FORCE.
Calabar belongs to God by creation; by the redemptive work of our Lord Jesus Christ at Calvary; by the work of the pioneering Missionaries to Calabar; by the Covenant that conferred on Calabar the Status of Member of the Committee of Christian Nations and her King as Defender of the Christian Faith (6th September 1878) and by the action of her contemporary kings who have yielded themselves to and surrendered our lands and people to the Almighty God. This arguably puts the Throne of the Obong of Calabar as the throne of Christianity just as that of the Sultan of Sokoto is for Islam.
The Scottish Missionaries came and lived and died here for over a century so that we might receive the Light of the Gospel of Christ. They lost their lives in their numbers and even at that, they wouldn’t give up. They gave their money, their skills, their all for over a hundred years.
The relay baton was handed unto us, to do the same as it was done for us but up until now, we have still remained a mission field. We have everything, we have been equipped: Now is the time for us to step out of our comfort zone and become a Missions force with the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Calabar Awake, Rise up to your divine mandate.
VISION
This vision is a Holy Ghost Inspired Divine mandate on us, to present a platform through which our people of Old Calabar province (in Cross River, Akwa Ibom, parts of Ebonyi and Abia States in Nigeria) in particular, and our entire country Nigeria and the West African Sub-Region inn general could find sincere expression of genuine repentance for the misdeeds of our forebears perpetrated against the early missionaries and the many ways they continually grieved these vanguards of the Gospel of Christ to us. The Holy Ghost has laid in our hearts to coordinate the training and sponsorship of our indigenes as Christian Missionaries to other lands, believing God for a release of the fullness of His blessings on our Land and people, as we arise to obey.
The vision therefore focuses on raising a crop of indigenous; adequately prepared Missionaries for Christian Service in Sri Lanka, Germany, Ecuador, Venezuela, Belgium, and other gospel fields as shall be further revealed by the Holy Ghost. This vision shall manifest through the five major divisions of the foundation viz:
Church and Missions Division – Greater Glory Covenant Church, Calabar
Medical Division – Christian Missionary Hospital, Calabar
Vocational Training Centre – Calabar Vocational Training Centre
Bible School and Publications Division – Christian Missions Academy, Calabar
Farms Division – Friends Farmers Cooperatives, Calabar
Though primarily focused on our mission fields, the vision does not lose sight of our Christian responsibilities to our host communities, our state, our Nation, and the Universal Church of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The vision of Hope of Glory significantly takes cognizance of Calabar not only as an Ancient Alter of the Gospel, of Christ but also as an Ancient Gateway of the Gospel into our Nation Nigeria, and the entire West Africa sub-region. The decision of Heaven to site this project in Calabar is very soberly significant to us. It is noteworthy that this Vision was revealed to no other but an indigene of Duke Town in Calabar where the pioneer Missionaries landed on 10th April 1846
We pray earnestly that the God of Heaven and Earth will hear us as we cry out in one accord; “Arise and Heal O’ Sun of Righteousness” Amen.
