2nd Bible Reading – 1st Corinthians 3:3-15.

Theme: The Mystery of God.

Topic: The Churches One Foundation.

Speaker: Apostle Paul Simon Bassey.

Text: 2nd Samuel 22:47-51, Romans 11:16-20.

Points:

  • Jesus is the one and only sure foundation of the church.
  • The church is founded upon Jesus.
  • There’s no life in the church without the spirit of Jesus.
  • Foundation-: That on which something is founded.
    • The natural or prepared ground upon which a structure is raised.
    • The basis or ground to build.
  • There’s no building without a foundation (no church without Jesus).
  • The foundation is not visible, but it determines what structure to be built on.
  • The foundation unites.
  • Jesus upholds, sustains, and bears the affliction of the church.
  • Any other foundation that is not completely in agreement with Jesus is not the foundation of a living church.
  • Not every church is the church of Jesus.
  • Men’s tradition is not practiced in the church of Jesus.
  • Jesus is the builder of the church.
  • Jesus builds the church with lively stones, and we are those stones.
  • The church is more spiritual than physical.
  • The foundation of the church is spiritual.
  • Jesus laid the foundation with His own blood (in the spiritual)
  • The foundation is to a building what the root is to every tree.
  • The unity of the church is determined by what flows from the root.
  • Jesus is the Rock of our salvation, in whom we have the fountain of living waters.
  • You must strive to find your place in the Rock.
  • If you are not in Christ, you cannot participate in the building (You must be born again).
  • Through the death of Jesus, you are justified, His resurrection guarantees your sanctification.
  • You must exercise the capacity given to you to be Holy & righteous.
  • Righteousness is a process, and you must work to become better everyday.
  • You must not be satisfied with the level of your righteousness; you must keep pressing forward.
  • A foundational ministry is a ministry upon which other ministries can come forth.
  • A foundation is laid sacrificially; you must sacrifice to be a part of a foundation.
  • You must allow the church to be in you; don’t only be in the church.
  • You must know and be careful of what you build on the foundation.
  • You must build with quality materials your work will be tried by fire.
  • Your attitude in building must be:
    • In obedience.
    • In faithfulness.
    • Sacrificial.
  • God expects you to serve Him in season and out of season.
  • God is interested in men who serve Him even when it is not convenient.
